After my discharge from the hospital, it took me about a week and a half to recover from the laparoscopy. I needed assistance rising from a lying or seated position, on and off the toilet, bathing. I have three small scars, one in the navel, and the other two where my ovaries are/were. When I began employment in April 2004 as a corporate security officer, my health was still iffy. I was still too thin at 109 pounds. I was gaunt, frail, even the slightest common cold would set me back two weeks. To top it off, I was commuting from an hour or more North, twice a day, five days a week. One early morning as I returned home from a double shift, I fell asleep at the wheel and ended up with $3,500 worth of damage to the front end of the car I had just bought. In 2006, I moved closer to work finally. In November of that year, I had a bad experience at work one night as I was performing a routine foot patrol in my building. I suddenly felt extremely nauseous, shaky, and dizzy. I had stabbing pain that was so bad I could barely walk, and I actually had to lie on the floor. I considered radioing my supervisor for assistance, but my pride stood in my way. I had another pain episode that December.
My mother told me about an article that she had read in Womens Day magazine about a clinic in Florida called Clear Passage. It consisted of deep tissue massage for women with infertility and pain caused by infertility. They also claimed to open blocked fallopian tubes. Because I really wanted to have a child, I decided to give Clear Passage a try.
After securing credit and a payment plan, I flew to Florida in June 2007 and spent a week in wonderful weather. For two hours at a time, twice a day, five days a week, I endured some pretty painful external and internal manipulation. I was always tired, yet felt good, when I left the clinic for my hotel room. I went to Walt Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom and Sea World for the first time, and I cried at both places because I was so thrilled to be there. Those were the trips I dreamt of as a little girl, and there I was at age 33. I felt that the therapy helped me in most of the areas except my TMJ (temperomandibular joint) pain, which I feel has been made worse. The therapy is touted to last for two years, and as I approach the two year mark this coming June, I see signs that my old uncomfortable feelings during each menses is beginning to creep back in.
I am returning back to searing lower right back pain and ovarian pain, which requires Vicodin as needed and a couch or bed with my heating pad and some rest. At this point, I plan to let things slide and continue to do as I am doing to manage my pain. I also decided to eliminate most of the main offending items from my life as possible, mainly certain food and body products. Endometriosis feeds off of estrogen, a womans primary hormone. After doing some research, I decided to consume organic offenders: meats, dairy, and eggs. I now consume organic or all-natural beef, chicken, pork, milk, cheese, and eggs. Body products containing chemicals called parabens (methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, etc.), pthalates, and chemicals ending in the suffix -eth (laureth, etc.) are offenders in products such as hair care, body lotions, and cosmetics. I am a huge fan of Burts Bees lotions. They smell great, a little goes a long way, and they work well without a tremendously greasy after feel. I finally put on weight, going from 109 in 2004 to 135 today.
Because Clear Passage did not succeed in opening my remaining right fallopian tube, my hospital has determined that IVF (in vitro fertilization) is likely my best bet in becoming a mother.

Article by Zen Habits contributor Jonathan Mead ; follow him on twitter . “Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.” - Bruce Lee Bruce Lee was a paragon of cool and an icon of the ultimate bad-ass. Not only were his martial arts skills incredible, but he had such an impressive physique that even bodybuilders in the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger admired him. Whats more impressive is that Bruce trained his body without ever stepping into a gym and with very little use of weights or machines. Here are just a few of Lees physical feats : Performed one-hand push-ups using only the thumb and index finger . Could hold an elevated v-sit position for 30 minutes or longer. Could throw grains of rice up into the air and then catch them in mid-flight using chopsticks. Could break wooden boards 6 inches (15 cm) thick. Performed 50 reps of one-arm chin-ups. While you may not get to Bruce Lees level overnight, you can start getting in shape without the use of a lot of fancy (and expensive) equipment. You can do it from the comfort of your own home, in a space as large as a bathroom. Part of the reason I started training without a gym was because I began training in Jeet Kune Do (Bruce Lees method of martial arts). But I also got tired of paying monthly gym dues. At the time, I was looking for things I could cut out of my monthly budget to save a little extra money. I thought about getting rid of my gym membership altogether, but I didnt want to sacrifice my health or physical fitness. So I found another way. For months, I havent had a gym membership, yet Im getting stronger and faster than Ive ever been in my life. You dont have to buy lots of weights or machines, either. The most expensive equipment youll need (a simple doorway pull-up bar) will cost no more than $35.00. Bruce Lee was a big proponent of holistic or total fitness. His workouts included strength, speed, endurance, and flexibility training. Heres just a few of the ways you can start getting stronger, faster and more toned without ever stepping into a gym: Calisthenics . There are so many different bodyweight exercises out there, but well start with the basics. For the lower body : lunges and squats are a good start. For upper body : pull-ups, push-ups, and shoulder press ups . For your core : crunches, chops, and reverse crunches will get you going. Whats great about bodyweight exercises is that they build functional strength. Theyre natural movements you would use in real life situations like sports, self-defense, gardening, or doing chores. Plus when you do bodyweight exercises, you force your body to use more supporting and balancing muscles than you would on machines. For more bodyweight exercises check out these great resources: The Ultimate Guide to Bodyweight Training: 100 Killer Resources and for an awesome list of bodyweight exercises with illustrations check out Combat Fitness . Bonus : Top 10 Best Bodyweight Exercises for Advanced and Beginners . Isometric exercises . These are basic bodyweight exercises, but where you hold your body in a static position. Examples of these are the frog sit, v-sit, horse stance, hanging from a pull-up bar, and the plank . Calisthenic exercises will improve muscle strength over a range of motion, but isometric exercises are great for joint and stabilizing strength. Range of motion and flexibility . The best exercise Ive found for range of motion and flexibility is yoga. The best thing about yoga is that no equipment is required and you can find tons of free resources online for yoga routines. Check out Anmol Mehtas Yoga Illustrations to get you started. Balance. Balance is the ability to keep your equilibrium when your center of gravity is thrown off-balance. There are many ways you can practice balance every day (we wont get into tight rope walking here). When youre putting on your shoes or getting dressed, do it on one foot. Walk on the curb and try to walk in a straight line without stumbling. Or if youre really ambitious, theres always pogo sticking and unicycling. Dynamic exercise . Dynamic exercise is anything where youre not performing routine after routine. Things are in flux and constantly changing. Youre moving in more natural movements, rather than continuous repetition of fixed patterns. I recently started doing Jeet Kune Do in the park every weekend. Its a great way to get a good work out and learn self defense. Not to mention, practicing martial arts tends to make you inspired to further pursue and achieve higher levels of physical fitness. If youre not into martial arts, you can always pick up a sport like tennis, handball, basketball, or take dance classes. Do whatever youre naturally drawn to. Or if you struggle with seeing fitness as an enjoyable activity, you might consider getting a Wii Fit . Theres a lot of other opportunities for exercise that dont include a gym that I havent listed here. Hiking, jogging, skiing, yardwork The list could go on. Just use your imagination. Make it fun and change it up. Thats the great thing about exercising without a gym, theres so much to choose from. On a side note, I will, however, say that for me, it took a lot more discipline to work out from home. It was easy for me to just go to the gym. Once Im there, theres not a lot else I can do other than work out. But at home, theres always distraction, always other things you can do besides working out (like laying on the couch or surfing the internet). For me, practicing martial arts inspires me to be physically fit. While you might not have this problem, I thought it only fair to be upfront about this issue. The other motivator for me to work out from home besides saving money was the variety of workouts. Theres just so many more options with bodyweight exercises than machines. You can always do something to further challenge yourself. If push-ups are a breeze, you can try doing them on your fingers or in a close grip (with a medicine ball). If pull-ups become too easy, train for a one arm pull-up (insanely difficult). Attaining Bruce Lee like fitness isnt just about doing the types workouts he did and eating the same diet. What made Bruce so great was his natural curiosity and drive to constantly explore and learn more about fitness and personal growth. (His personal library contained over 2,000 books!) Tap into your own curiosity and make fitness enjoyable. Challenge yourself to new levels of fitness. Go beyond what you think you can do. “If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” - Bruce Lee This article was written by Zen Habits contributor Jonathan Mead of Illuminated Mind . To learn more about how to reclaim your life, grab a check out his book - Reclaim Your Dreams. (Note: If youre interested in learning more about Bruce Lees training methods, check out: The Art of Expressing the Human Body by John Little) If you liked this article, please share it on del.icio.us, StumbleUpon or Digg . Generic Clomid (Serophene) is a synthetic substance which prevents estrogen from affecting the brain. As a consequence the brain improves stimulation of the ovary which in turn increases the chances of ovulation. Clomid is produced under the brand names of Merrell-Dow and Serophene by Serono. There are also a number of Generic Clomids which have the same effect but cost much less, for instance you can buy cheap Generic Clomid (Serophene) just for $0.70.
Generic Clomid (Serophene) is mainly used for ovulation stimulation. Most women, who do not have ovulation, ovulate as soon as they start to use this medicine. Generic Clomid (Serophene) is also intended for women who have no problems with ovulation but want to increase their chances to get pregnant. The common dose of Generic Clomid (Serophene) is 1tablet (50 mg) during 5 days. The treatment course is usually started from 2-5 day of the menstrual period. Now most doctors recommend taking it from the second day of the periods.
In case when a woman ovulates after the first course of treatment but pregnancy does not occur, the treatment with Generic Clomid (Serophene) could be prolonged for another 3-6 periods. If ovulation does not occur in the first course of treatment, the dosage can be increased to 2 tablets a day during 5 days of the next menstrual period.
Clomid could be used in the dosage mentioned from 3 to 6 periods. The dose limit of Generic Clomid (Serophene) is 150 mg or 3 tablets a day during 5 days. The chances to conceive while taking Clomid make 10-13% per period depending on the age, the cause of infertility, reaction of a patient to Clomid or other medicines used simultaneously with Clomid. The chances of getting pregnant increase up to 30-60% after 6 cycles of taking Generic Clomid (Serophene). About 5-10 % of all pregnancies occurred due to Clomid result in twin birth, 1% result in birth of 3 and more children. Generic Clomid (Serophene) has been successfully used in the US since 1967. Presently there is no evidence that Generic Clomid (Serophene) may affect the development of a fetus.

I had my annual gyn appt yesterday - it was two hours (most of it waiting) but it went pretty well. The Dr. was not impressed with my ovusoft charts, though. He said bbt's are too unreliable - I just said that I had to disagree and left it at that. He was supportive of my use of NPC but was skeptical that it would help me to ovulate on my own. I am just going to keep fingers crossed and think positively!
Today my cervix is again soft, high and open and I had a big temp dip down to 96.44 today! Praying that I actually O on my own so I can supplement with the NPC soon.
I am continuing to increase my daily fruit/veggie intake and lower my refined sugars/carbs. I am eating only healthy carbs such as whole wheat pasta, brown rice, etc... and only one serving per day. I am losing my tummy, which is great! I'm really trying to be healthy and I hope that the NPC will be a good supplement in the lp for me.

App developers have also been busy, it seems. The App Store now offers many, many offerings - many useful, some just for yuks. The app count has pushed past the 10,000 mark, up from 5,500 in October and 500 in July.
Apps, for the uninitiated, are programs that can be downloaded onto an iPhone at the touch of a finger. They run the gamut of categories, from games to music to social networking to news. Most are offered by third-party developers, some for free and some for a fee.
Apple, always looking to be different, didnt put out a press release announcing its app success. instead it bought full-page add in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

Citigroup may be too big to fail, but is it big enough to close a deal? Soon after losing its bid for Wachovia to Wells Fargo, Citi turned it sights on Chevy Chase Bank, which while not as mighty as Wachovia, was at least closer to its east coast power base. This morning, Capital One Finance said it had agreed to buy the mid-Atlantic lender, right out from under Citis nose.
JP Morgan Chase had also been interested in Chevy Chase, a smallish, unlisted lender. The deal announced by Capital One was for $520 million - hardly the kind of blockbuster that makes or breaks a battered Wall Street monolith.
It will be interesting to see if Citi, brimming over with TARP funds that the Treasury has all but begged it and others to spend on lending, stays on the prowl. Bank of America took its TARP money and boosted its stake in a Chinese lender, so there is some precedent for Citi to spend the funds on a deal.
But with Citis wallet stuffed with taxpayer cash, the impetus for growth may be less imperative. If it decides against bidding for the deposits of another regional bank, Citi will find itself with only financial assets to sell in a sellers market.
It agreed to sell its German retail business, which it put on the block over the summer with a price tag of around $8 billion, and at the end of November reports emerged it would try to sell its trust bank unit in Japan for more than $400 million.
Deals of the day:
* Goldman Sachs said it has rejected an offer from Panasonic to buy its shares in Sanyo Electric because it believes the offer price is too low.
* Rio Tinto is in talks to sell its half of a Chinese aluminium joint venture to its partner, which is consolidating its assets to prepare for a takeover by another state-owned company, sources in the two Chinese companies said.
* Japanese insurance group TD Holdings may bid for two Japanese life insurers put up for sale by American International Group, the Asahi newspaper reported.
* Nippon Oil, Japans biggest refiner, is merging with smaller Nippon Mining Holdings in a move to cut capacity and costs as a global slowdown hits demand for oil products.
* Private equity firm Apax Partners is considering an investment in Bank of Ireland as interest in Irish banks by buyout groups continues to grow, the Financial Times reported.
* Media mogul Sumner Redstone has agreed with his daughter, Shari Redstone, to sell some of National Amusements 1,500 cinemas rather than the entire division, the Financial Times said citing people familiar with the matter.
* Global Investment House, Kuwaits biggest investment bank, is in talks with several local banks to get $1 billion worth of loans, while seeking a quick sale of its stake in a Bahraini lender, it said.
* Dutch dredging group Boskalis Westminster dropped its bid to buy maritime services company Smit, saying it would be difficult to take it over without managements cooperation.
* Wm Morrison, Britains fourth-biggest grocer, beat third-quarter sales forecasts and said it had agreed to buy 38 stores from the Co-operative Group for 223 million pounds ($329 million).
* Aerospace parts supplier Umeco said it bought Italy-based Industria Plastica Monregalese (IPM) for 16.8 million euros ($21.3 million) as part of its plans to develop a wider global presence in the wind energy market.
* Italian energy group Enel SpA denied a media report it had offered Acciona 12 billion euros ($15.2 billion) for the Spanish builders 25 percent stake in Endesa.

Reuters Washington staff photographer Jason Reed has been traveling with the campaign of Democratic U.S. presidential nominee Barack Obama. He and his colleague Brian Snyder traveling with the McCain campaign have been posting daily photographers blog entries sharing their experiences and favorite pictures of the day from their campaign coverage.
In the past year and a half I have been priviledged to have a front row seat to American political history - on a personal journey as a Reuters photographer on the road to the White House with Barack Obama.
In the first 24 hours that we have all had a chance to absorb the historic election of Democratic Senator Barack Obama to become the 44th president of the United States, I have finally had time to catch my breath after an incredible 21-month journey photographing his unlikely rise on the political world stage, alongside my Reuters photographer colleagues. From the very earliest beginnings of his campaign, at his announcement speech on those frozen steps of the State House in Springfield, Illinois to the grand stage in Chicagos Grant Park where he delivered his victory speech last night, I feel incredibly privileged to have gone along for the ride and witnessed one of the great ascensions to the U.S. presidency in history.

What a difference two years makes. After being foiled by EU regulators in 2006, Ryanair CEO Michael OLeary is back with another bid for Aer Lingus, but in the midst of an economic slowdown he has cut the offer price in half, to 750 million pounds ($970 million).
The sharply reduced price is unlikely to endear Ryanair to Aer Lingus management, trade unions or the Irish government. But amid broader consolidation trends in the industry, analysts give the low-cost upstart a slightly better chance of success with EU regulators this time around.
More deals of the day:
** Irish banks will move in the coming weeks to facilitate investments of up to 10 billion euros ($12.94 billion) in fresh capital from government, private equity and other sources, the Irish Examiner reported.
** American International Group Inc said it has agreed to sell its wealth management provider AIG Private Bank to Abu Dhabi-listed investment company Aabar Investments Co .

** Spanish builder Sacyr Vallehermoso has sold its Itinere highway business to Citigroup for 7.9 billion euros ($10.20 billion), cutting its massive debt pile by a third during a housing slump.
** Insurance Australia Group Ltd, Australias top car and home insurer, is increasing its interest in Malaysian general insurance venture AmAssurance to 49 percent from 30 percent.
** Norwegian oilfield services company Petrojack has offered to merge its Petroprod unit with Norwegian oil company Det norske oljeselskap in an all-stock deal.
** Dutch telecoms group KPN said it would sell its Getronics units Business Solutions activities for local governments and healthcare in the Netherlands to Total Specific Solutions.
** Electricity Generating PCL (EGCO), Thailands second-largest private power firm, said it had indirectly bought a 23.4 percent stake in a coal-fired power plant in the Philippines, its fourth in the country.

** Loss-making chipmaker Qimonda delayed the release of its fourth-quarter results because it was in talks with several strategic and financial investors on potential partnerships it needs to keep operating, it said.
** Shares in Indonesia biggest coal miner, PT Bumi Resources Tbk, tumbled nearly 7 percent, surrendering early gains, on investor uncertainty over Bumis ownership and its group debt.
** Media mogul Sumner Redstone has sold his controlling stake in video game company Midway Games Inc to a private investor to ease his debt load, the Wall Street Journal said.

Chinese President Hu Jintao:
The Chinese government and I have always attached great importance to the Sino-U.S. relations. In the new historical period, I look forward to endeavor together with you … to continue to strengthen the dialogue and communication between the two countries, to enhance mutual trust and cooperation, to push the Sino-U.S. constructive cooperation relations to a new level, in order to better benefit the two people and the peoples of the world.
Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao:
The good relationship between China and the United States is the shared hope of people of the two countries, it is also needed in the safeguarding of the peace, stability and prosperity of Asia-Pacific region and the world.
… Through the common endeavor of both countries, the constructive cooperation relationship between China and the United States will definitely acquire new development.
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown:
I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to Barack Obama on winning the presidency of the United States. I would also like to pay tribute to Senator McCain who fought a good campaign and has shown the characteristic dignity that has marked a lifetime of service to his country.
The relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom is vital to our prosperity and security. Barack Obama ran an inspirational campaign, energizing politics with his progressive values and his vision for the future. I know Barack Obama and we share many values. We both have determination to show that government can act to help people fairly through these difficult times facing the global economy. And I look forward to working extremely closely with him in the coming months and years.
Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga:
The significance of this victory will resonate with hundreds of millions of people around the world. It is indeed time for global renewal.
The strong message of hope and a vision of a world united in dealing with global challenges delivered by the president-elect in his campaigns is admirable, timely and welcome. The perseverance and endurance that the president-elect has shown during his campaigns is an inspiration to the world.
The people of Kenya wish the president-elect and the people of America every success in their endeavors in the years to come. There can be no doubt that America is indeed a nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel:
My sincere congratulations on your historic victory in the presidential election.
The world faces meaningful challenges at the start of your term in office. Im convinced that through a close and trusting cooperation between the United States and Europe we will be able to confront new risks and challenges in a decisive manner and will be able to take advantage of the numerous opportunities that are opening up in our world. Rest assured that my government appreciates hugely the meaning and value of the trans-Atlantic relationship for our common future.
I remember with pleasure our conversation during your visit to Germany last July and look forward to working together with you in the future.
Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh:
The Iraqi government has a true desire to work and cooperate with the elected president for the best interest of the two countries to spread security and ensure Iraqs full sovereignty in a way that this will guarantee the interest of Iraqi people.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert:
Once again, America has proven that it is, indeed, the greatest democracy and constitutes an example for all other democracies in the world. President-elect Obama has proven his leadership and his talents to the entire world.
… The special Israel-U.S. relationship is based on shared values and interests and is characterized by ties of close cooperation. Israel and the United States have a common desire to advance peace and stability in the Middle East. We have no doubt that the special relations that prevail between the two countries will continue to strengthen during the Obama administration.
Israeli President Shimon Peres:
It was an American election and a worldwide choice.
… I want to congratulate the newly-elected president: young, fresh, promising, representing a change and introducing change. The changes that I can mention — it is an opportunity to escape the present world crisis and enter into a new era of cooperation, of productive economy and of human solidarity. In a way, it is an end of racism. There is no longer any way that any white man can claim superiority, nor any black person feel discrimination. We are the same people, and this election is a great statement to that effect.
… I also have the utmost respect for the other candidate, John McCain, who fought with great courage and stamina.
… When President Obama was here, he asked me what he can do for Israel. My answer was: Be a great president of the United States of America. If you will be a great president of the United States of America, you will have great promise for Israel as well, and for all of the region and for all of our neighbors. Nobody should look at whose side the president is on — he just has to be on the side of peace. And if he will be on the side of peace, peace will come closer and more possible.
Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat:
Erakat said Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas congratulates Obama.
We think that America is united behind the two-state solution and we hope that President-elect Obama will continue the engagement immediately and that he will transfer the vision of two states from a vision to a realistic political track, Erakat said.
European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso:
This is a time for a renewed commitment between Europe and the United States of America.
I want to assure Senator Obama of the support of the European Commission and of my personal support in forging this renewed commitment to face together the many challenges ahead of us.
We need to change the current crisis into a new opportunity. We need a new deal for a new world. I sincerely hope that with the leadership of President Obama, the United States of America will join forces with Europe to
drive this new deal. For the benefit of our societies, for the benefit of the world.
European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana:
I think like every election, it means renewal. The ticket on which Barack Obama has run, this ticket for change — change is what we need in the world today. Many problems we have on the table, and I very much hope that well be able to do it together — to find a solution to them together, between the European Union and the United States.
… I would also like to say that it will not be enough to have the European Union and the United States together. The problems of today well need also to incorporate other main players. I think about China, I think about the organization like the African Union and many others.
Therefore, we have a very important day, a historical day and hope very much that the Europeans will be together also to make the utmost of this important moment.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh:
I have great pleasure in conveying my heartiest congratulations on your election as the president of the United States. Your extraordinary journey to the White House will inspire people not only in your country but also around the world.
The people of India and the United States are bound by their shared commitment to freedom, justice, pluralism, individual rights and democracy. These ideals provide a solid bedrock for friendship and strategic partnership between our two nations. We have strong ties between our peoples and I look forward to working with you to realize the enormous potential for cooperation that exists between India and the United States. Our two countries working together to address global issues and challenges will be an important factor for world peace, stability and progress.
Former South African President Nelson Mandela:
Your victory has demonstrated that no person anywhere in the world should not dare to dream of wanting to change the world for a better place.
We note and applaud your commitment to supporting the cause of peace and security around the world. We trust that you will also make it the mission of your presidency to combat the scourge of poverty and disease everywhere.
We wish you strength and fortitude in the challenging days and years that lie ahead. We are sure you will ultimately achieve your dream making the United States of America a full partner in a community of nations committed to peace and prosperity for all.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu:
s an epoch-making event filling the whole world with hope that change is possible. It is just tremendous; it is saying to people of color that for them, the sky is the limit.
My heartiest congratulations go to Senator Barack Obama and his partner Senator Joe Biden on their victory.
I also want to congratulate Senator John McCain for his gracious references to Senator Obama in his conceding speech.
We have a new spring in our walk and our shoulders are straighter. It is almost as when Nelson Mandela became president of South Africa in 1994.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy:
In choosing you, its the choice for change, the opening up and the optimism of the American people. While the world is in turmoil and doubt, the American people, loyal to their values that have always been the American identity, forcefully expressed their faith in progress and the future.
This message from the American people resonates well beyond your borders. In the moment where we must face together immense challenges, your election raises immense hope in France, in Europe, and beyond, throughout the world. This open America, united and strong, will show the way anew, with its partners, by the strength of its example and its adherence to its principles.
France and Europe, which have always been connected to the United States by ties of history, values, and friendship, will draw a new energy from this to work with America at preserving world peace and stability.s Deputy Parliament Speaker Mohammad Hossein Abutorabifard:
Obama can change the defeated Bush policies and in so doing can play an important role in the future relations between the U.S. and Asia and the Middle East.
… If the United States takes into consideration the realities of the world and chooses suitable policies, America can play its (proper) role in the relations between the United States and the countries of the region and theworld of Islam.… It seems that this election has prepared the ground for a revision in the Democrats and Obamas future policies of the United States.
Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero:
Zapatero congratulated Obama for his extraordinary election victory and said it opens the road of hope for the world in times of difficulty.
In a telegram sent to Obama, Zapatero wrote, As prime minister of the government of Spain, I let you know of our desire to work together to search for opportunities and solutions to tackle the challenges we face.
I am convinced, as you are, that dialogue and collaboration with governments and multilateral institutions is the best way to find the answers that we need.
Zimbabwe opposition party Movement for Democratic Change:
s victory is a victory of hope, faith, change, a restart, values and dreams which have underpinned our fight as a movement against dictatorship and the neo-fascism of Robert Mugabe.
s victory will hopefully usher in a departure from the politics of polarization, fear, unilateralism and arrogance that has defined the Bush doctrine in the last eight years. Indeed, we hope that Obama will open new avenues of dialogue of new interaction based on respect of all countries irrespective of the size of national budgets or the number of fighter jets owned.
… We are mindful of the difficulties that lie ahead in Obamas path and the fact that this is no El Dorado, a construct that Obama himself acknowledges in his acceptance speech. Indeed it is a task that may take more than his two terms of office. Perhaps the greatest thing we have learnt from this victory is that democracy can work and that there is no alternative to the same.
John McCains speech was particularly humbling, instructive and inspiring. If in Africa, incumbents would accept defeat and would graciously depart from the seat of power, this would be a different continent, and indeed Zimbabwe would be a different place.
For those of us who are still in the trenches, fighting for change and democracy across the entire African continent, this is our victory. One which for now we will savor and celebrate.
